The Green Collar Australia
2 onsite days - Introduce, meet and greet and overview, identify.
Barriers, Community / Additional Resources and Volunteering Day Details, some computer and smart phone stuff.
The first 2 weeks are designed to make you feel part of a larger group of people who are facing similar situations and is facilitated by professionals in the legal and employment industries who have themselves had legal or institutionalised experience – and have overcome them.
The main outcome is to start building confidence, motivation and the belief that you are not alone - it is possible to overcome your current predicament.
The first half of the two onsite sessions is to introduce the bridging concept, which is essentially the tools required to make the move from where you are today, to where you want to get to. Identification with the facilitator and an overview of how The Green Collar is there to help.
It’s also a chance for you to introduce yourselves to one another. The second day in the first week is to ensure you have your logins and apps necessary to participate in online activities and to provide referred legal, medical and recruitment agency details where suitable. We focus on the practical legal and medical aspects of your needs, along with the necessary steps needed to take in order to find employment.
We understand that sometimes an element of "treatment" is necessary, not just job hunting tips and tricks. Your issues maybe more complicated than a program which simply hands up advice with job hunting AND we are well aware of what your struggles may entail.
The second fortnight is largely around the way to look at the broafer employment market - after the first and delves more into psychological barriers which exist and how to overcome a negative mindset and any shame about the past.
Whilst often there will still be ongoing issues, particularly if housing, substance abuse, or ongoing court disputes may be going on, The Green Collar helps you put those behind yourself and create hope. This is done through identification with the facilitator and discussions around promoting a positive mindset and avoiding certain pitfalls and back-sliding prevention techniques.
How to address criminal record issues requiring comment, or family dispute issues forms a large part of the second curriculum. Recruitment agencies, or volunteer groups we partner with, may attend and various opportunities are highlighted. We focus on building the confidence to feel worthy to get gainful employment and offer professional assistance to do so.
